Baby nature detective!

We went out for a beautiful autumn walk this week by the River Alyn. It was a little chilly but we just wrapped up.

When we go for walks I try and talk to piglet about what we can see. I don’t know the names of all the trees etc… but that doesn’t matter. Just pointing to something and say leaf, berry, tree etc… is helping her to hear a wide range of vocabulary .

Today we were looking at Autumn leaves and I just talked to her about the colours we could see.

If I knew the names of anything we saw I pointed them out too. It’s not going to harm!

We found some beautiful leaves and we collected some on the way to make an autumn leaf viewer (pic to follow!). This would then give piglet the chance to look really closely at the leaves without being able to eat them!😂🙈

I also picked some seeds and berries etc… to make an autumn sensory bottle. I obviously didn’t let piglet touch these but she’ll be able to have a good look at them later!

As you can see we’re very lucky to have this walk on our doorstep. The dog thinks it’s amazing!  Fields, river and rabbits to chase… does life get any better for a springer!

We also like a bit of a sing song and any opportunity for me to sing to my daughter then I’ll take it. I thought this song was quite apt for our wall today.

(To the tune of London’s bridge is falling down)

Autumn Leaves

Autumn leaves are falling down,

Falling down, falling down.

Autumn leaves are falling down,

Autumns here.

Red and orange, yellow and brown

Yellow and brown, yellow and brown.

Red and orange, yellow and brown,

Leaves are falling.
Enjoy your autumn walk
