Porridge sticks!

These are the absolute best thing I have been ever told about!

Thank you Chloe from Attachment Parenting Chester for this idea! https://www.facebook.com/APUKChester/

Ingredients

Porridge… I usually do a large bowl full.

Water/breastmilk

Fruit or your choice. I’ve used chopped up pear, chopped up nectarine, bananas, banana and raisins, mixed fruit, blackberries, blackberries and bananas, strawberries and dates, bananas and dates. The options are endless! Basically use whatever you have got in your cupboard!

Optional- flax seeds.

I plan to try one with chia seeds…I’ll let you know how I get on with that one first.

Method

Mix it altogether!

I used the blackberries we picked on our walk for this batch.

Make sure it’s quite thick and firm enough to shape into fingers.

The ones in the picture are a bit wet… but still tasted fabulous! 😉

Put them on some greaseproof paper.

Pop in oven 200c for about 30ish minutes!

Once they are crispy on the outside. Take them out and leave to cool.

These can be also frozen.

They are a fabulous healthy snack and I’ve also started to give piglet one before her last boob feed to fill her up and try and make her sleep longer… and at the moment it’s working… not all night yet but an improvement!

This is also great if you’ve got let over porridge from breakfast. Instead of throwing it away keep hold until the next time you put the oven on. We can be frugal as well!😂

Give it a go and let me know how you get on.

Enjoy

September- Blackberry Picking

I love Autumn. Fishing out my knitted jumpers and getting the chimney cleaned for colder weather. Another excuse for 1 more hot chocolate and not shaving you legs!🙈😁

This year I have a little piglet to share this with too. At 8 months old she is wide awake and taking more and more in.

So I decided to take her blackberry picking! I’m lucky that at my mum and dad’s house there are lots of fields with blackberries in the hedges. So I don’t have to worry about car fumes etc…

Excuse the green cardi… but it’s so warm!

And of course we tried a few on the way. When your little one is saying “Yum!” You know that you’re on to a winner.

The dogs of course joined us too! Misbehaving as usual and fighting over a stick or too. Plus of course aggravating my mother!

Even the chucks came out to see what we were doing.

I talked to Piglet about the colour and how they tasted sweet.

I didn’t let Piglet pick them because of all the bramble… but I don’t think she minded having the job of chief taster!

We used the blackberries for our pudding.

I also made some yummy but very messy Blackberry Mousse and blackberry porrige sticks. (Recipes to follow).

Very messy but also very good fun for baby led weaning.

So get outside. There are still some blackberries out there foryou and your little one to enjoy.
