The Ponderosa

Every now and then we like to nip up the horseshoe path and go for breakfast at The Pondersosa cafe. http://www.ponderosacafe.co.uk/

It’s a fab cafe with friendly staff and good hearty meals. We’ve never stayed but it is a b&b too.

The main reason we come up here is to enjoy the scenery and to walk the dog. Now the little pig is walking well in her wellies she can really explore. The lesson that was taught today was, “don’t touch the spikes! ” And of course, Peter Rabbit joined us too…

Camping with a toddler…

Fact number 1. We are the WORST campers in the world!

We take everything and nothing. Take hours to put the tent up and argue over putting the tent up.

Camping with a toddler was, we’ll, an experience. The fact we were on a slope made it very hard! Every time we stepped into the tent we felt ill. Then the rain! Oh my, the rain! In the end we had to abandon the tent and come home! The hubby then returned later on for it.

Then somewhere in between we find time to relax and enjoy.

The tent has now been stored away for the year… or maybe a few years 😂

Maes Y Pant

We’ve been walking around this quarry on and off for a few years now. My husband grew up on its edges and therefore spent many days… and evening of his childhood down there.

We now get to share this place with our daughter.

Maes y Pant used to be an old quarry and has now been developed into a really wonderful area. It is suitable for all ages, and especially enjoyed by fellow dog walkers. It is also known as the Gresford/Marford Quarry.

Ted loves it down here and just goes wild. Sometimes I wonder if he thinks he’s a squirrel as he has a good go at climbing the trees after them!

There are lots of different routes to take and lots of wild life to see.

Here are just a few of the things I pointed out to piglet…

These beetles had such a bright blue shell on them!

Lots of mushrooms…not sure if they’re edible though so we left them where they stood!

Then brightness of this green tree really stood out in the woods.

Overall we had a lovely family walk.

Even Granny Ange joined us!

So if you’re near the area, pop over. It’s definitely worth a visit.
